Headshots for Professionals That Make An
IMPACT
A professional like yourself came in for headshots recently. We had planned everything in advance and were ready to shoot. She asked, "What should I bring to wear?" I said, "Bring the whole closet." I was only half-joking.
Our shoot was one of those effortless sessions where my subject just brings it. She was excited to have her headshot taken, excited for what it would mean to her and her brand, to her future. The more photos I showed her, the better they got.
When it was over, we shared a beer and talked about our kids, then reviewed a few of our favorite picks from the session. Even though the photos were unedited and RAW, we both knew we had knocked it out of the park.
She gathered her stuff, and we started to say goodbye. I let her know I'd only need a few days to edit this session—I was excited to see the final images myself. And then she left. But before pulling out of the studio parking lot, she got on her phone and sent me a simple but hilariously sweet message: "That was so f!#@cking cool," it read.
That's a true story about my life as a professional headshot photographer and the incredible people I’m lucky enough to lift up, empower, be inspired by, and yes, take their picture. If you want to learn more about what that’s all about, keep reading!

A Single Headshot Can Make A
Huge Impact
This is even more evident to me as we continue the trend of working from home. Like it or not, we're in the swipe-right era, where we navigate our professional and social landscapes by being seen first online, long before meeting in person.
Be it LinkedIn, email signatures, online bios, or dating profiles, we are at the mercy of the mobile snap judgment. So put on a happy face and get ready for your close-up. It may be the first (and last) impression you can make.
Your headshot is more than just a picture; it's an opportunity to take control of that first impression. It's about telling the story of the great and powerful YOU. Are you playful and carefree? Serious and determined? By understanding your goals, we can craft an image that speaks volumes about you. So, what are your goals for being here right now? What do you want your headshot to say about you?
My Two Goals For
Every Headshot
Personally, I like to identify two key attributes I want my professional headshots to convey for clients. Those are 1) confidence and 2) approachability.
Call it my North Star of headshot photography. When your potential client or hiring manager sees your profile picture, I want their first impression to be: a) this is someone I can talk to, and b) this is someone who can get the job done. With those two pillars guiding our shoot, I am confident we can leave the session with something that will empower you and leave you feeling ready to land that next job.
The great thing about professional headshots is that we really only need one! It's a single image that can carry you throughout your entire branding, and if you make public appearances, a high-resolution, well-crafted headshot can go a long way to satisfying marketing requirements for events you might be booked for. Let's make your website sing, your resume pop, and your business card shine! It's all about the headshot!
